Do we really need another coffee house? Yes: The Vault!

I almost started this post with “The Vault is so great, do we really need all the OTHER coffee shops?” But, I didn’t want to argue with the “have to have my *bucks every morning” people.

If your criteria for spending your time and money is greater than getting fast service at the drive-up, please read on.

Name: The Vault Coffee and Connections,
Location: 223 North Main (Corner of Main and Mulberry), downtown Kokomo.
Phone: (765) 438-9900,
Hours: Monday through Friday, 7 A.M. – 5 P.M., Saturday 8 A.M. – 3 P.M.
Web:, Facebook: TheVault Coffee (Note the missing space, and just go with it.)

You are only going to become a fan of The Vault by trying it, so I’m not going to employ my considerable powers of persuasion attempting to convince you. When you try it, give these aspects your consideration:

  • Great food, including tasty sandwiches (It sounds gross, but I recommend “The Yacky.”)
  • Very good coffee (my favorite so far: “Jamaican Me Crazy”)
  • Calm, relaxing atmosphere (typically, soft  Contemporary Christian music is playing)
  • Conference Room for 12-14 people, with whiteboard. (Who else has that?)
  • Free wifi (very speedy)

I asked the owner and GM,  Andrew Gauthier, about his philosophy behind The Vault. He said he wants to foster  both personal and business connections. That’s why he is trying to provide a calming atmosphere, a great menu, and the conference room…

In fact, that room is available typically at no charge (ask Andrew about the rules), and I have personally taken advantage of it a number of times with networking groups.

Andrew shared these new items with me, and they may be enticing  if you tried The Vault in their early weeks, but haven’t been back:

  • Gift Cards of any denomination, minimum $10 (a timely addition for the holidays)
  • Seasonal flavors like Pumpkin Spice
  • Bob Evans Breakfast Burritos (boasting 100% customer satisfaction to date)

My own feelings are that it’s an inviting combination of a fun and productive place to go. And, I appreciate the encouraging quotes and scripture posted there. Now, it’s time for your move. Try it. Maybe I’ll see you there!
