Wet Webs Gallery

On Sept. 4,2012, the area was enveloped in thick fog throughout the morning hours. The dense humidity clung to every spider’s web on our property, turning it into a Halloween-esque fantasy world for my camera. Some of the webs withstood the weight of the water, and others did not, as you will see.

(Note: The first image, #0727, shows a single strand of web that stretched between two trees that stand about 60 feet apart.)

2011 Fireworks Displays for the Kokomo Area – UPDATED

Tipton Indiana Fireworks

Tipton Indiana Fireworks

Our local paper, the Kokomo Tribune, posted the following times for area fireworks displays yet to happen for the 2011 Independence Day holiday. They are accurate in that I could not find any up-to-date sources that contradicted them, except for the Kokomo Tribune itself. I was able to confirm most of these dates via other sources. UPDATE: Kokomo fireworks were postponed due to weather. Please see red text below.

  • Peru – At dusk Sunday at the town park

  • Burlington – At dusk Sunday at Burlington Park

  • Greentown – At dusk Monday at the Howard County fairgrounds.

  • Tipton – 10:10 p.m. Sunday at Tipton County Fairgrounds.

  • Walton – Monday at dusk, Walton town park.

  • Kokomo – Friday, July 8, 10 PM at Foster Park

It’s our family tradition to enjoy the Tipton County fireworks. The Tipton display will reportedly add a substantial 35% more fireworks to their 20-minute “sky concert” display. Music is provided on the FM country station, WWKI.

Other Beauties In The World

Wishing Well On A Foggy Winter Morning

Wishing Well On A Foggy Winter Morning

I found an old fortune cookie message in the bottom of a drawer. It said, “You make people realize that there exist other beauties in the world.” I’m not sure what that means, but I like how it sounds.  If I can just help people enjoy and appreciate the “regular” beauties that fill our world, I’ll be happy and blessed.

Loveless Root at The Social

A little rock, a little blues, a little rootsy, a lot of fun. Loveless Root continues to refine their sound. They opened for Midwest Hype and Twin Cats Friday night at The Social in Kokomo.

Josh Mast, has been with the group full-time for a while now, according to bassist Jesse Bieber. His contributions, both on vocals and guitar, are complementary to Roderick Allen Minch’s more laid-back style.

Bieber also gave props to Eddie Roodvoets, listed on the Loveless Root Facebook page as the guy playing “Alternative Percussion.” If you don’t know how much a percussionist can add to the overall sound of a group, please check out Loveless Root. You can also see Brian Pavey in InsideOut, a local cover band that have previously written about.

Chris Kremer’s sax also helps to gives Loveless Root a full, rich sound not found in most bands you hear in a bar. All three bands at The Social that night have a sax player in the line-up, so the audience got an uncommon treat in my experience.

I have to mention drummer Joey Ray Wills as well. And not because I talked about everyone else. Because he’s the kind of purposeful drummer that puts a solid foundation under the whole performance, even with a couple of tricky timing changes. Thanks for sweating so we could all have a fun evening! Continue reading
